Guidewire strategy hitting the hot spots
Interview

Insurance Newslink took the opportunity recently to talk with Guidewire ceo Mike Rosenbaum and other senior management over Zoom. It has been a couple of years since we last caught up with Guidewire in London, and with Rosenbaum, previously in a senior management role at Salesforce, being with Guidewire since August last year, it was timely to have a catch up.
Our discussion was immediately before Guidewire’s annual showcase-“Connections” event which this year was virtual, where Guidewire highlighted its latest Cloud development, Banff, and its vision for the future of P&C claims.
Calling the annual update “Connections” was most appropriate. Guidewire has made big strides with cloud platform development and there has also been continuous activity in establishing niche supplier partnerships particularly in the claims and cyber areas, both of great importance to insurers worldwide as they strive to improve customer trust and loyalty. Connectivity, predictive analytics, digitisation, and artificial intelligence(AI) are at the core of Guidewire development.
Newslink was particularly interested in a couple of Guidewire surveys in the UK market where the supplier has a strong market presence with 20 clients. The surveys looked at the customer view of insurance after COVID-19, and their experience of claims handling-a most welcome approach by a leading IT supplier particularly at a critical time for everyone with pressure on insurers to deliver.
Guidewire’s strategy under Rosenbaum is definitely hitting the hot spots, with the company continuing to be highly ranked in the US and Europe by analysts in a competitive marketplace.
